Our signature summer concert series, <\/span>Rock the Block<\/span>, is set to return in 2 weeks on <\/span>Wednesday May 21st<\/span>! <\/span><\/p>

The Downtown White Plains Business Improvement District, in collaboration with the City of White Plains and Doug Panero Presents, proudly hosts Rock the Block. This event will take place <\/span>every third Wednesday<\/span> of the month from <\/span>May through August<\/span>, running from <\/span>5:30 PM to 8:30 PM<\/span>. White Plains Hospital is the presenting sponsor of Rock the Block.<\/span><\/p>

The street closure on Mamaroneck Avenue from Maple Avenue to E. Post Road, will create a spacious, car-free area featuring outdoor dining and plenty of activities such as mini-golf, corn hole, crafts for kids, seesaws, and best of all, free live music! <\/span>Featured activities include a 9-hole mini-golf event sponsored by various local businesses, which you can learn more about during the event.<\/span><\/p>

This month’s lineup will feature headliners <\/span>The Big Takeover<\/a> and opening act <\/span>The Only Bay Allstars<\/a>. The Big Takeover, a seven-piece band from the Hudson Valley, is led by Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie. They perform original music that is inspired by Jamaican pop genres, including reggae, rocksteady, and ska. They pay homage to Desmond Dekker and blend various musical traditions as modern pop fusionists!<\/span><\/p>

Our opening act, <\/span>Bay Melnick Virgolino<\/a>, is a NYC native and the lead rock and blues guitarist\/vocalist for <\/span>The Only Bay<\/span>. He developed a passion for rock and blues at the young age of 2, started playing guitar at 4, and performed his first live show at 7. By age 8, he was already headlining festivals. Now, at just 10 years old, Bay will open our first Rock the Block concert in this year’s series!<\/span><\/p>

Our upcoming headliners for June through August include, <\/span>Tito Puente Jr.<\/a>, <\/span>The Wildmans <\/a>and <\/span>Ada Dyer<\/a>. Additionally, you can expect to see openers such as, <\/span>Mansa G. Code<\/span>, <\/span>The Big Happy<\/a>, and <\/span>Everyday People<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>

We hope to see you all there! Invite your friends, bring the kids, and dance the night away to our summer tunes! If you plan to watch the live performance in the seating area, we suggest bringing your own chair!<\/span><\/p>

Wing Walk Recap: A Flavorful Success!<\/a><\/p>

The Downtown White Plains 2025 Wing Walk on Saturday, April 26th, was a success! Despite the rain, over 1,700 attendees showed up, umbrellas in hand and appetites ready. The streets buzzed with energy as guests strolled through downtown, sampling bold, saucy, and surprising wing creations from 16 incredible restaurants. Our beloved chicken mascot, Wingston Lemon-Pepper, didn\u2019t let a little drizzle slow him down as he danced through the streets, posed for photos, and brought joy to everyone he met.<\/span><\/p>

As attendees made their way through Downtown White Plains and rated restaurant wings, the final voting form submissions rolled in that evening, and the results were clear: Lilly\u2019s was crowned the People\u2019s Choice Champion for their standout Thai Chili Dry Rub wings. Our guest judges also weighed in and named Brazen Fox as the Judge\u2019s Choice Champion for their bold and flavorful Stingin\u2019 Honey Garlic Wings. Congratulations to both restaurants for their delicious and creative!<\/span><\/p>

Red Horse by David Burke, a downtown White Plains restaurant, was recently featured in a news article by Jeff Edwards on Patch for the launch of their new <\/span>“American dim sum” brunch<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

This brunch will offer a unique twist, featuring 10 courses of snack-sized portions that blend American breakfast and lunch favorites with a Chinese influence. Guests can look forward to dishes such as General Tso’s crispy fried chicken, shrimp fried rice, and oatmeal cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e served in eggshells. Additionally, a selection of breads will be presented in church baskets. The brunch is priced at $55, with a limited \u00e0 la carte menu also available.<\/span><\/p>

“American dim sum, at Red Horse by David Burke White Plains, will offer snack-sized portions of American lunch and breakfast favorites, some with a Chinese accent, presented on carts that constantly roam the dining room.
